An Tulca Mhór - The Great Flood

The Great Flood

And lo the flood brings forth empty waters;
And woe to those who would swim:
For as we drown the waters do not rise;
And as we sink our feet are firmly footed:
Yet we will all die submerged;
Overwhelmed by the flood:
And lo the flood brings forth empty waters;
And woe to those that would swim.

Here is a great idea, very simple yet ingenious!
Using a 10 note scale translate the numbers of π into musical notes and then harmonise:

Ionsporáid:
Tá cheol an fís eile seo bunaithe ar 'tau', τ. Tá an fonn seo níos deise I mo thuraim.
Cad a cheapann tú?

π or  τ, which do you prefer?

What in the world!?

    I recently discovered that our current system of cartography completely distorts the size of countries.
When we look at the map and judge countries upon their size we are most likely wrong.
Here is the map we are all familiar with:

Here is the Gall-Peters map in which all countries are portrayed with appropriate size relations to each other:

Tá difríocht sontasach idir na dhá mapaí seo. Tá an leathsféar Thuaidh i bhfad níos mó den leathsféar Theas.  Amharc ar an difríocht is mó!:

Is Mapa iontach conspoide é mapa Gall-Peters, agus caithimid a bí ag smaoineadh ar an fath a cuirtear faoi chois é. Déan cíoradh ar an Aifric?!

Could there be a political reason behind the suppression of this 'more accurate' map?
Or is This map indeed more accurate?

Comments welcome.

Fódla: Explanitory Article

  • Fódla (FOE-LA), whose name means ‘Sod of Earth’, is the daughter of Ernmas (the mother Goddess of Ireland) and the wife of Mac Cecht, a leader of the Tuatha de Dannan

  • She is a Goddess of War attributed to protection, sovereignty and leadership.
  • She is a warrior charged with the protection of the Island.
  • She was reigning Queen at the time of the Milesian invasion.
  • The Tuatha de Dannan finally succumbed to the Milesians but three separate deals were struck with Amairgin so that the newly conquered lands would be named after the three daughters of Ernmas (Banbha at Slieve Mis, Fódla at Slieve Felim and Éiriu at Sleieve Uisneach) so that the Tuatha de Dannan might live on in name.
  • Fódla was killed by Eadán at the battle of Tailtiu which marked the defeat of the Tuatha de Dannan
Variations:
Fódla, Fodhla, Fotla, Fothla, Fóla

In the image Fódla is in Celtic war regalia; holding a spear and with a resting shield.
She is in a yogic pose and her base and body chackras are awakened.
The doves, bees and willow leaf in her left hand, are all celtic symbols of health
Here the illumination (white light) is central denoting use of the whole brain.

Protection, sovereignty and leadership in times of war require that your health fitness and strength be at optimal levels.

Ainu Language, Possible Similarities?

    Léis na físeanna séo tá mé ag iarraidh na cosúlachta idir na teangaí proto-ceilteach agus an teanga Ainu a fiosrú da bhrí raiteas diamhar go raibh gaol idir na teangaí. Is chultúr seanda oileánach é chultúr na hAinu agus ag, an am séo, níl aon gaol ar bith idir an teanga Ainu agus teanga ar bith eile.
    Eist leis an bhlás ar an fís 'Ainu' seo, bfheidir go bhfuil eolach ar?

    Here's a little linguistic curiosity for all you familiar with the Irish language. The Ainu, or the 'hairy Ainu', are an ancient insular indigenous race inhabiting the northern islands of Japan. Ainu has no accepted genealogical relationship to any other language family, yet, I just heard an off-hand remark about how their language was unique to the area but seemed to share a lot in common with proto-celtic languages. That would be a head-scratcher as they are an ancient people on the other side of the globe!
    I'm not sure how true this is as the researcher gave no reference for this particular talking point but have a listen see if you can hear a 'blás':
